Mahon Community Development Project (Mahon CDP) was established in 1992 and is a youth and community project based in an urban designated disadvantaged area in Cork City in Ireland. It is a non profit NGO which is managed by a voluntary board of management. The CDP operates a resource centre, childcare facilities and a youth centre.
Mahon CDP provides training, educational, employment and social/recreational opportunities and undertakes targeted work with various groups including: Older People, people with mental ill health, people who are unemployed , young fathers, generic youth work and intergenerational and intercultural youth work.
Mahon CDP has over 20 employees working in the Mahon community and a further 50 employees in childcare facilities across the south of Cork City and across East Cork, through a Childcare Community Employment Training Scheme (CE Scheme) which it manages.
